General Assembly of FIESSA
The General Assembly of the International Federation of Elite Sports (FIESSA) serves as the supreme decision-making body and the highest supervisory authority within the Federation. Composed of 160 national Elite Sport Federation members, it plays a pivotal role in defining the organisation’s strategic policies, priorities, and global initiatives.
Key Objectives and Responsibilities
- Member Gathering: Provide an international platform for collaboration, experience exchange, and alignment among 160 national member federations.
- Executive Committee Election: Elect members of FIESSA’s Executive Committee for a four-year term, ensuring effective and strategic leadership.
- Approval of Budget and Operational Plans: Review and ratify budgets and programs proposed by the Executive Committee to ensure transparency, efficiency, and goal achievement.
- Oversight of Strategic Policies: Monitor alignment of all Federation activities with FIESSA’s core values including integrity, fairness, professional ethics, and sustainable development in elite sports.
Meetings and Global Impact
The General Assembly convenes every two years to review the progress of FIESSA’s initiatives, assess achievements and challenges, and present innovative strategies for the Federation’s future. The next session will be held virtually from 29-31 October 2020, allowing members to evaluate global elite sports trends, review accomplishments, and exchange strategic insights.
